Common Failure Analysis of Speed Reducers in Use

1. Frequent operational errors: Due to insufficient understanding of the transmission structure and performance of speed reducers, such as gear reducers (especially for new operators), errors in selection can easily lead to malfunctions, even mechanical and safety accidents.
2. Rapid wear: Due to factors such as the processing, assembly, and debugging of new speed reducer components, the contact area of the mating surfaces is relatively small, while the allowable torque is relatively large. During the operation of the speed reducer, the uneven parts on the surface of the parts interlock and rub against each other. The metal debris that is worn off acts as an abrasive, continuing to participate in friction, further accelerating the wear of the mating surfaces of the parts. Therefore, during the running-in period, wear of components (especially mating surfaces) is easily caused, and the wear rate is too fast. At this time, if overloaded operation occurs, it may lead to damage to the components and early failures.
3. Loosening: Newly processed and assembled components have deviations in geometric shape and mating dimensions. In the initial stage of use, due to the influence of impact, vibration, and alternating loads, as well as heating, deformation, and excessive wear, the originally tightened components are prone to loosening.
4. Usage environment: For different seasons and different usage environments, special processing may be required for special situations. For example: In northern winter, low-temperature grease should be used at sub-zero temperatures. Surface grease freezes, and startup is slow.
5. Leakage: During installation, use the correct installation method as much as possible. Do not use hammering. Cracks caused by hammering are difficult to detect during assembly and debugging, but due to the vibration and impact during operation, this defect is exposed, manifesting as oil leakage (seepage). Therefore, leakage may occasionally occur during the running-in period.

1. Mandatory maintenance of the machine, inspection and adjustment, and attention to cleaning external dust.
2. Keep the speed reducer motor clean, and adjust and tighten loose parts in time to prevent loosening from accelerating the wear of parts or causing parts to be lost.
3. The maintenance requirements for gear reducers during the running-in period can be summarized as: enhanced training, reduced load, attention to inspection, and enhanced lubrication.
